Task: Read The Gulf News, The National, popular newspapers and magazines from other countries, scan the Internet and look for news events where you can see the
principles and concepts we study in class playing out in business. Collect these articles or news events, and for each one explain how it is possible to see economic
forces at work in the story. I am NOT looking for academic articles that explain economics. I am looking for articles that do not even mention economics, but that you
can recognize the economics in the article because of what you have learned in the course. These articles must be published after December 1, 2016.
IMPORTANT: To be considered for an A grade, each student must explain 15 concepts.
-Make sure your articles are published after December 1, 2016
-Make sure you have popular media articles, not academic journal articles. The point of this assignment is for you to read stories that do not mention or explain
economics AT ALL—you are supposed to recognize and explain an economic concept or event in the article because of what you have learned this semester in this class.
-Make sure you have graphs for all supply/demand, surplus/shortage, ceiling/floor, and tax concepts.
-Make sure your graphs are completely labeled with P, Q, D, S, (if necessary, P1, P2, Q1, Q2, S1, S2, D1, D2) and titles.
-Concepts # 11 through # 35 require a graph.
– Make sure you have a Table of Contents in the front, listing the title of the articles, the concepts beneath each article, and the page numbers. On the page you
actually discuss your article, put the author, date, and publication source beneath the title.
-Make sure you have as the last page “References” with a list of all of the http:// weblinks –it does NOT have to be in APA format.
-Minimum 3 and maximum 5 sentences explanation per concept.
